From the highland village of Bilida Bukisa in Ethiopia’s renowned Kercha district, this washed lot showcases the elegance and vibrancy of heirloom varieties grown at elevations exceeding 2,100 meters. Harvested by smallholder farmers and processed at a nearby wet mill built by one of our trusted export partners, this coffee embodies the terroir and history of southern Ethiopia’s Guji Zone.
These farms cultivate unique regional cultivars descended from Ethiopia’s wild forest coffee, yielding a cup full of complexity and brightness. The washed process—involving a 24–36 hour fermentation to remove the mucilage—results in a clean, expressive profile that performs beautifully across a range of roasts.
This coffee is like a floral bouquet with honey, lime zest, and hints of peach cobbler. The brewed cup is syrupy and juicy, with a graceful mix of brown sugar, stone fruit, and subtle floral overtones. As it cools, look for flavors of orange marmalade, red apple, and cooked peach, paired with tartaric acidity that evokes white grape.
