Ormond Beach is Daytona's quieter northern neighbor, the town that called itself the birthplace of speed when the first cars raced on its sand. Today it is mostly neighborhoods, families and retirees, with the cafes, bakeries and restaurants along Granada Boulevard and the riverfront serving people who live here rather than visitors. The churches are large and steady, and the event crowds that fill Daytona spill north into Ormond's hotels during race weeks and Bike Week.
