Getting the cart to Crestview

Fifty minutes, all of it inland, either up I-10 to the 85 exit or straight through on Highway 90. Neither route depends on a bridge or on beach traffic, which makes Crestview one of the more predictable drives on our calendar, including in July.

Crestview dates skew to weekday mornings, so we usually load out of the roastery before six. Setup is forty-five minutes once the cart is in the room, and we plan to be on site that far ahead of the first cup. Nothing about a Crestview date requires an overnight.

What Crestview events look like

Crestview is the county seat of Okaloosa County and the calendar behaves like it. Government, military and church work outnumber weddings by a wide margin. Duke Field and the north end of Eglin put a steady run of retirements, promotions and unit functions on the schedule, all weekday, daytime, and on a fixed clock that does not move.

The rest is local. Church services and fellowship hours, school and booster banquets, chamber breakfasts, volunteer appreciation mornings, and outdoor dates through fair and rodeo season. Weddings happen here, but they are church-and-reception-hall weddings, not waterfront ones. Indoor civic and community rooms. City spaces such as Warrior's Hall and the buildings around Twin Hills Park are ordinary indoor rooms with real outlets, doors wide enough for the cart, and a hard floor. Easier than almost anything on the coast. We do want an outlet that is not already loaded, because a room running a warming buffet on the same breaker will trip it.

Churches and fellowship halls. The most common Crestview booking by a distance. Load-in is usually a side or kitchen entrance. Tell us how far that door is from where the cart will actually stand, since that number decides our arrival time more than the drive does.
