Athens is the University of Georgia's town, and its downtown sits right against the campus, so tens of thousands of students keep the cafes, bakeries and restaurants a few blocks from the Arch busy from August through spring. The city's music scene keeps downtown open late, Five Points and Normaltown have their own cafe clusters, and home football Saturdays fill the town far past its size.
