Who buys wholesale coffee in Covington and the Northshore
Covington, Mandeville and the rest of St. Tammany Parish sit across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans, at the far end of the Causeway, and they have grown for decades as families moved north of the lake. Downtown Covington's old blocks are full of cafes, bakeries and restaurants, the rail-trail that runs through the parish brings a steady weekend crowd, and the medical corridor and small offices along the highways keep a weekday workforce. The churches are large and many of them are growing. Most accounts here are a cafe or bakery downtown, a church serving a lobby crowd, or an office or practice.
Running a coffee program on the Northshore
The Northshore runs on the school year and on growth. A church with a youth program is full from August to May and lighter in summer, and a congregation that set its order two years ago has probably added a service since. Downtown cafes are busiest on weekends. We set accounts to their own pattern and let the Wednesday cadence handle the changes a week at a time. A distributor's case was roasted weeks before it was picked; ours was roasted the week it left.
