Who buys wholesale coffee in Tallahassee

Tallahassee's coffee demand runs on three calendars that rarely agree. The Capitol complex, the agency buildings and Southwood are the largest office population in the region, and they run at a different pitch during the sixty-day legislative session each spring. Florida State, Florida A&M and Tallahassee Community College fill College Town, Gaines Street and Midtown from late August to May, with football Saturdays that double a cafe's weekend. And Tallahassee is a church city, with large congregations in the Northeast and Killearn and campus ministries serving students away from home. Most accounts here are an office or agency, a church serving a lobby crowd, or a cafe or restaurant near campus or Midtown.

Running a coffee program in Tallahassee

The calendar is the whole problem, and it's a solvable one. A Capitol-area office that orders the same in March and July is either running out in session or throwing coffee away in summer, and a campus cafe that stocks for October in June is paying to age it. The fix is a standing account with a quantity you can change week to week. The honest cost of a roaster three hours away is the Wednesday cadence: if you tend to run out on a Monday and need coffee by Tuesday, a roaster down the street will serve you better, and I'd rather say that here than after you've opened an account.
