Crestview is the Okaloosa County seat, and the town that grew when the coast got too expensive. The courthouse and county offices anchor the old downtown along Main Street, with the cafes and lunch places that serve them. South along Highway 85 toward Eglin's north gate are the contractors, medical practices and restaurants that serve a workforce commuting to the base, and the interstate brings hotels and a logistics economy. The churches are everywhere, many of them growing with the subdivisions north and east of the city.
