Who buys wholesale coffee in Destin
Destin is a harbor town wrapped in a rental town. The Harborwalk holds the charter fleet, the marinas and a restaurant row that pours coffee at breakfast for the fishing crowd and after dinner for everyone else. East along 98 to Crystal Beach are the condo towers and beach houses, turned over weekly from spring break through Labor Day, and the hotels in between run a breakfast program that is small in January and enormous in July. Most accounts here are a hotel running a breakfast and lobby program, a rental manager stocking units, or a harbor restaurant.
Running a coffee program in Destin
The season is the whole problem. A property that orders the same in February and July is either out of coffee on the Fourth or throwing it away in winter, so we set a snowbird base and a summer quantity, with a bigger order before Memorial Day and a smaller one after Labor Day. In July that means ordering for the week after next. In-unit coffee should be a sealed portion, because an open bag in a beachfront kitchen goes flat in days. A distributor's case was roasted weeks before it was picked; ours was roasted the week it left.
