Yes, we come to Mobile. It is about an hour from our Pensacola roastery, straight across the Florida line on I-10, and it sits inside our regular service area rather than our extended range. Getting the cart to Mobile

Roughly 60 miles from the roastery on Fairfield Drive to downtown. We are a Florida roaster serving an Alabama city, which sounds like it should complicate something and does not. We load in Pensacola that morning, and the coffee in the hopper was roasted days earlier rather than bought in from a distributor.

Setup runs about forty-five minutes once the cart is standing where it will serve. Downtown we arrive earlier, because load-in around Dauphin Street is street-side and tunnel traffic is not something we want to be sitting in at the start of a setup window.

What Mobile events look like

Mobile is the largest Alabama city we serve and the least seasonal. The beach towns east of here run on a summer calendar. Mobile books through the year, because its corporate side, tied to the port, the industrial employers and the Convention Center, does not wait on weather.

Then there is Carnival. Mobile's Mardi Gras is the original American one, and the season runs Twelfth Night to Fat Tuesday: weeks of balls, receptions and daytime parade gatherings, not a single night. It is the busiest stretch on the calendar and the hardest to add late. The rest is weddings at historic mansions and downtown churches, garden events toward Bellingrath, and ballroom work. Setting up at Mobile venues

Downtown and the Dauphin Street district. Beautiful old buildings with the electrical to match. The espresso machine needs a dedicated 110v circuit, and in a room where the band and a caterer's warmers are already drawing, it will trip. Ask the venue first. During Carnival, closed blocks decide when the cart can physically reach the door.

Convention Center and hotel ballrooms. The easiest rooms in the city. Dock access, real power, indoor load-in. Settle floor space in advance, since in-house catering and the AV crew work the same wall and often the same outlets.

Historic homes, churches and garden venues. The cart needs an 8x8 footprint on flat, hard ground, and outdoors the nearest usable outlet is often a long way from where you want the coffee. Measure that distance for us and it stops being a problem.

Do you charge more because Mobile is across the state line?

No. Travel, setup, breakdown and taxes are included in every quote we send. Mobile is an hour from the roastery and inside our regular service area, so there is no overnight and no distance premium in the number.

Can you work a Mardi Gras event in Mobile?

Yes, and the season fills early, so ask sooner than you would for an ordinary date. Send the parade schedule for your day along with the venue. Downtown street closures change where we can park and how long load-in takes.

Will an older downtown Mobile building have the power we need?

Usually, but not always on a circuit we can have to ourselves, and that is the part that matters. We need one dedicated 110v circuit. If the venue cannot confirm it, tell us early and we will work the placement around what the room actually has.
